That case was ultimately resolved in favor of the driver of the pickup. But to prevent that kind of problem, one should never bypass the safty interlock. Assuming he hadn't, that would have been all he needed to say. They could have proven, that due to proper installation, it was impossible for him to be watching a DVD an the case would have been dropped immediately. He could have gone to jail if things hadn't gone his way. While you might not be in a fatality accident, you could still loose a insurance battle on a more simple accident that was the other persons fault when they contest you were distracted, but if you had been paying attention you could have avoided the accident.
